Sony Smartwatch 3 To Launch Next Month, Not To Come With Android Wear - Rumors

The ‘wearables’ market has still not been completely exploited to its full potential; but with Google also jumping into the wearables arena, it looked as if we had moved a step closer to that And, now, a new report suggests thatSony will go ahead and launch the sequel to its own smartwatch, the Sony Smartwatch 3 at the IFA next month.
Quite interestingly though, Sony has decided to not go with the Android Wear, but instead given its own smartwatch OS another chance.

The Smartwatch interface is most likely to get a complete revamp, with the watch also acquiring the ability to operate independent of a smartphone.
The watch would come with a WiFi module built-in to achieve this task, however the existence of mobile data connectivity is still not confirmed.
Coming to the hardware of the watch, the Smartwatch 3 would most likely follow the same design language as the Smartwatch 2. The screen would remain square, but would have a greater resolution panel. The display would also be most likely the same transflective screen that we saw on the Smartwatch 2.

However, one important change that we might see in the Smartwatch 3 is the addition of wireless charging, which has become the norm among the latest smartwatches.
Sony’s decision of not going with Android Wear is quite astonishing. With Android Wear, Google has produced an incredible platform which not only brings all the Google Services to your wrist, but also allows third-party app developers to extend the functionality of their apps to smartwatches, thereby providing a seamless experience to their users.
Also, with almost all of their smartphone lineup already running Android, it would have made a lot of sense to do the same for their Smartwatch 3.
However, we must mention that the huge fans of Android that we are, we really do appreciate this bold move taken by Sony to take the road so feared, and embark to test its own OS.
However, if you look closely at this move, you’d understand this isn’t so senseless after all. One of Sony’s primary market for these devices is China, and with the restricted availability of Google services in the country, Android doesn’t really possess the same charm as it does elsewhere.
So, if they are able to take this handicap of Android in China, and exploit this over with their own OS, it would really become a smart move of the company. All we can do is wait and watch, how this turns out.
If these rumors turn out to be true, would you now buy a smartwatch not running the Android Wear? What do you think about the decision that Sony has taken? Leave your thoughts and opinions in the Comments’ Section down below.
